Is this retreat suitable for all levels?
This retreat is best suited for those with some experience in drawing and watercolor, as the courses are not designed for complete beginners.
How many people will attend the retreat?
A maximum of 16 participants.
What flights should I book?
You should plan to arrive at Catania Fontanarossa Airport on March 28th by 1:00 PM at the latest. A transfer to the venue will be provided at 3:00 PM. Arriving by 1:00 PM ensures you don’t miss the transfer.
For your return, a transfer from the venue to the airport is scheduled to arrive at Catania Fontanarossa by 11:00 AM on April 4th. We recommend booking a flight departing no earlier than 12:30 AM to allow plenty of time for check-in without rushing.
How do I reach the retreat venue?
The roundtrip airport transfers are included at scheduled times. The arrival transfer is at 3PM on March 28th from the airport, and at 10 AM on April 04th from the venue, arriving at the airport at 11 AM.
If you flight from a far country, we recommend arriving in Italy a day early to recover from travel, adapt to the time zone, and avoid issues with delays.
What are the check-in and check-out times?
The venue is about an hour's drive from Catania Fontanarossa Airport. If you’re arranging your own transfer, please aim to arrive at Borgo Del Carato after 4:00 PM on March 28th. Check-out is after breakfast on the last day, April 4th.
What language is used during the retreat?
All classes and activities will be conducted in English.
Is WiFi available?
Yes, WiFi is available.
Is the retreat accessible for guests with limited mobility?
Unfortunately, the venue and day trips are not well-suited for those with limited mobility.
Can I join the retreat with my non-painter partner?
I encourage participants to join the retreat alone to fully immerse themselves in the artistic experience and connect deeply with the other artists.
That said, if you prefer to come with your partner we added a double room to share with your no-painter partner.
Can I attend if I am vegetarian or vegan?
Yes, all dietary preferences and food allergies can be accommodated if noted in advance.
What should I pack?
We suggest packing suitable clothing, insect repellent, comfortable shoes, a cardigan for cooler evenings, personal care items, and any necessary medications.
What art supplies are provided?
Included are jars, tables, chairs, paper towels, Winsor & Newton 300g hot-pressed watercolor paper (30x40 cm), watercolor paints curated by Agnes Cecile, and white acrylic paint.
Agnes Cecile will also bring small empty palettes and several sets of her favorite Winsor & Newton synthetic sable round brushes (sizes 0, 4, 8, 10, and larger) for those who might need them.
Certain items, such as pencils, erasers, tape, an empty palette, a sketchbook, a small watercolor artblock Winsor&Newton (18x25 cm) and personal watercolor brushes (especially larger sizes), are not included. A detailed supply list will be provided 2 months before the retreat.
Do I need a visa?
Guests from the US, Canada, EU, UK, and Schengen member states do not need a visa to enter Italy for tourism.
Are there age restrictions?
The retreat is open to anyone over 18 years old.
I’m afraid of insects. Is this retreat suitable for me?
The venue is in a countryside setting, so insects may be present. There are no dangerous insects, but if you have a strong phobia of insects, you may wish to reconsider.
Is a deposit required?
Yes, a deposit of 30% is due upon booking. Guests will be asked to pay the remaining 70% two months before the retreat. Read the Payment Policy for more info.
Will I receive a full refund if the retreat is canceled?
Yes, if the retreat is canceled by Agnes Cecile, you will receive a full refund. Once the retreat is confirmed, refunds will no longer be available. Please read the Cancellation Policy for more info.
What happens if I need to cancel?
All bookings are non-refundable. No refunds will be given for cancellations. We highly recommend travel insurance to cover potential losses due to medical emergencies, travel disruptions, or personal circumstances.
Participants are advised to obtain travel, medical, and cancellation insurance to safeguard against any unforeseen events that may necessitate altering or canceling travel plans. This insurance should cover potential losses resulting from cancellations or no-shows, including but not limited to medical emergencies, travel delays, or personal issues. Please note that we are not connected to any travel insurance companies. It is your responsibility to secure adequate coverage, including protection for trip cancellation and interruption. We strongly encourage you to carefully review the terms and conditions of your chosen insurance policy to fully understand the coverage and claims process.
